Manny Villar being the big underdog

If there is anything I like about the Manny Villar campaign strategy, it is it’s remarkable campaign strategy. From the big time celebrity endorsers to the catchy campaign jingle ad, Naging Mahirap composed by Merlee Jayme, which is the favorite songs of many kids today, pati mga tambay (even the bums), and has sent an enormous amount of  positive feedback for Villar. His campaign ads are plain and simple, no blah blah, everything is straight to point (just like Gibo). It is only sad that Manny Villar as a good business man cannot be presented to the masses because this will likely be used against him. Apparently, some really prominent and powerful businessmen doesn’t like having Villar around, they aren’t supporting him. This is what I think, these businessmen does not like to have a President who has the same background as them because they don’t want to be controlled, they don’t want Villar to expose the A-B-C of the big companies that slaves the people. For sure, those businessmen have a lot to hide.

I am starting to feel extremely bad for him though, he has become the favorite punching bag of Senator Jamby Madrigal. On television, presidential forums, senate hearing, name it and you will hear the husky toned Madrigal lashing out on the rich and (most probably) upset but composed Villar. She kept on accusing him of corruption and using his power to promote his businesses, and worse is she even started picking on the amount he has spent for his campaign. SO WHAT?! What is your problem Jamby?! Corruption has been going on since the Spanish era, I am not saying that corruption is to be tolerated but, for crying out loud, who in the Philippine government is not corrupt? She should be picking on everybody in the government then, from those lousy Barangay Kagawads to the ones sitting on those high benches at the Supreme Court. Madrigal at one point, used to support one of the most controversial political figure, former President Joseph Estrada, who was imprisoned later on for money laundering. How come she never kick his butt? If you want to get rid off corruption, get a hundred of molotov cocktail and give it to all those sitting on the Senate and Congress, that should do it. What is even more funny? Noynoy Aquino, after outspokenly saying that he won’t be campaigning like a TRAPO (traditional politician) does, he then started criticizing Manny Villar. Aquino’s camp even came up with a story that Villar has paid a generous amount to top the surveys… this kind of tactic from Noynoy is one heck of a TRAPO scheme. Why can’t be like Gilbert Teodoro who has been going around the country with a positive campaigning? Sulong Gibo!

So much has been said about Villar but he clearly became the “big underdog” here. All of those punches being thrown at him by several political figures has given him the sympathy of the Filipino voters. I guess his keeping mum about all the intrigues has finally paid off.   Campaign period officially just started last Tuesday but everything is already heating up. Let’s wait and see what will happen next for Villar, Aquino, and Gilbert Teodoro.

The hand that rocks the cradle

Perhaps, I was one of those girls who thinks Jason Ivler is a real hottie, but then his killer smile (literally) just scares the crap out of me. Now that he is trying to recover at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center after sustaining gunshot wounds to the right shoulder and left upper abdomen, he will be facing tw0 criminal cases, one  in 2004 which accused him of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and on November 18, 2009, Renato Victor Ebarle Jr., the 27-year-old son of an undersecretary for the Office of the Presidential Chief of Staff, was shot dead inside his sports utility vehicle (SUV) on Santolan Road, Quezon City.

Infancy’s the tender fountain,
Power may with beauty flow,
Mother’s first to guide the streamlets,
From them souls unresting grow—
Grow on for the good or evil,
Sunshine streamed or evil hurled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.
—- William Ross Wallace

Now all eyes are on Jason Ivler’s mother, Marlene Aguilar, who is now being charged of obstruction of justice and giving false statements to the police investigators who have been searching for her son for a long time now.  I am not in a position to judge her, it is just normal for a mother to love his son no matter what he has become but she must also realize that her tolerance to her son’s wrong deeds will only bring him more harm than good. The hand that rocks the cradle is the one that should teach her young the right way. My mom once told me that not all mothers are the same and all have different style on raising their children. What Jason Ivler has become was a decision made by Jason Ivler himself but how I wish Marlene Aguilar would have guided his son properly too.
****
update: Marlene Aguilar met Andal Ampatuan and she said he is a good man and he should not be judged. Sino pa nga ba ang magkakampihan? Diba sila sila lang naman talaga?

The face of evil

I can’t help but be disgusted with the face of Datu Unsay Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr.  It is  scary to see that all of the members of their family are somehow look-a-likes, so disturbing. This afternoon when he appeared with his lawyer Atty. Sigfrid Fortun, at the preliminary investigation at the Department of Justice (DOJ) to answer the charges of multiple murder filed against him, he was even giving everybody a devilish smile, it is like he is mocking all of the media men who went there to protest the Maguindanao Massacre where 57 people died including 18 media men. If I were there, I’d probably throw him bricks on his face just to stop him from desperately looking like a tamed puppy but instead he came out looking like Satan in shackles and bullet proof vest.

The lucky bitch strikes again!

Last year, when Albay Governor Joey Salceda called President Gloria Arroyo (GMA) a “lucky bitch”, I never thought she’d bring her luck to the higher level. She is so lucky that despite her unending political woes, events beyond her control have conspired in the economic and other areas to keep her in power. And to top it all, her recent announcement that she is running for Congress on 2010 at her hometown in Pampanga just gave everybody in the public office the biggest surprise (disgust more likely) of their lives. I can’t stop laughing when I saw this on the news… she is really a Queen B. Do we really think that this tiny girl will let the future President (except Gibo) ruin her retirement and spend the rest of her days inside the jail?! I don’t think so. The lucky bitch will probably freak out hehehe!

Move over Blair Waldorf!

GMA has done it again. Just when we all thought that her regime is soon to end, she will soon be reaping the grain that she sowed in the Congress. So now we all know why the House of the Representatives has always been the pampered ones … she has invested the country’s money very wisely.

The joke is on us! Check mate!!!

9-11 suspects on trial at NYC

Many Americans believe that the Obama government’s move to pursue the trial in New York of the 9-11 terrorists attack suspects will be putting the whole country in great danger and anxiety. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and five other suspects detained in Guantanamo Bay in Cuba will be facing the federal court instead of a military tribunal. Some believed that this decision to have an open court trial could put NYC in threat of another terrorist act and will give platform for these terrorists to present their Jihad beliefs to recruit more members.

I strongly believe that this is one the best decisions of the Obama government. Everything will be out in the open, public opinion and scrutiny will be welcomed, and information that were not ever publicized will be available for everyone. Americans have put terrorists to federal court repeatedly so this should not be new to them, and this trial will give bittersweet justice to the 3000 people killed in the 9-11 attack . A full view of the trial is the best way to go.

A military tribunal is a kind of military court designed to try members of enemy forces during wartime, operating outside the scope of conventional criminal and civil proceedings. The judges are military officersand fulfill the role of jurors. Military tribunals are distinct from courts-martial. It is an inquisitorial system based on charges brought by a military authority, prosecuted by a military authority, judged by military officers, and sentenced by military officers against a member of an adversarial force. — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_tribunal
