Father Fernando Suarez, don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate you, I just don’t understand you. In the midst of the global financial crisis, you and your foundation are building a church that will cost a billion pesos? I know you are going to say, again and again, that it is for the common good of the people… but how? What really bugs me is that there will a shrine in the middle of the humongous hectare of land located at the Monte Maria Mountain, Batangas City, expected to be as tall as the Statue of Liberty and ironically, it will be called Shrine of Our Lady of the Poor … who would even believe that she is actually for the poor? When I saw the 3D animation of the whole place, it looks more like an amusement park to me. Will you be charging visitors/pilgrims for entrance fee? I saw your TV Patrol World interview and for a second, I thought you were starting to sound like a businessman than a priest.
Which brings me …Â every week nights, I never fail to watch an episode of the ABS CBN tv drama “May Bukas Pa”. It is about Santino, a little boy brought up by priests, who can talk to Jesus ( whom he fondly calls Bro). Jesus used him to heal sick people. Every time people say that Santino is an angel or that he is a miracle boy, he constantly remind them that it was Bro who did all those miracles and not him. Every end of the day, before he goes to sleep, he visits the image of Jesus and thank Him for all the event that has happened for the whole day, whether it is bad or good, he always look at things in a positive light. He never asked for anything in return, he just said thank you and carry on.
To you Fr. Suarez … I can hear Santino saying “Amen!”

The worst part of it all is that Suarez’s group admits that there is no medical evidence yet that any of the so called healings are true/real. In so many words, they state on their website that doctors have yet to examine and investigate the matter. Until that time that diagnoses (pre and post “faith healing”) have been conducted, until it has been established that people indeed have been cured, until far more plausible alternative explanations (e.g., placebo effect, initial misdiagnosis, self-limiting diseases, spontaneous remissions, variable/cyclical symptomatology and a regression to the mean, etc.) have been ruled out, Suarez is being irresponsible in making people believe that he has supernatural healing powers or that he is a channel through which some preternatural therapeutic power is coursed.

our lady of the poor? that’s even bigger than our lady of edsa. even if the vatican and catholic church continue to create and invent new our ladies and saints, in the eyes of our true Lord, those are just idols and man made. how pathetic..

try to look into youtube videos of those said “healing sessions” and u wont see anything spectacular that give proof to alleged miracles of Fr. Suarez. Filipinos are religious and maybe yes, our spirits are in need of spiritual nourishing but to take advantage of this hunger is just so awful.

do you still remember the so-called miracle in agoo, la union several years ago, where a young boy claimed there was a dancing sun and even had a blood in his mouth? (which later on was caught on a close up video that he was just putting the blood into his mouth while pretending to pray) he had a lot of followers who believes in him, but later on in turned out his only goal was to get money through donations and after that, he built his own house, bought several cars and he became a self-proclaimed homosexual.

I believe in god the father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ only son of the father. He conceived by the power of the holy spirit, born of the blessed virgin marry, he suffered under Pontius Pilate was crucified died and was buried. He descended into the dead. On the third day he rose again, he ascended into heaven and seated at the right hand of the father.. He will come again to judge the leaving and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit the HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins and the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. AMEN.
